The Barile Lab and Lebrilla Lab (UC Davis Department of Chemistry) developed and applies the novel patented Fenton's initiation towards defined oligosaccharide groups (FITDOG) reaction to plant materials to generate high yields of oligosaccharides from their polysaccharides. These reactions are gradually scaled, first performed in 1 mL volumes, followed by 1 L volumes, and finally at the pilot plant scale (25 gallon volumes).
